Dr. Susan Bernstein

If your heart hungers to come alive at work, you’ll appreciate the perspectives and practices developed by nationally recognized coach, author, and speaker Dr. Susan Bernstein. Since 2001, she has helped thousands of working professionals and organizations to successfully navigate from a scary sense of chaos and uncertainty to an uplifting feeling of clarity and confidence. Susan’s goal is to help you maximize your ROLE™, your Return On Life Energy™ in all facets of your life.
With over 20 years experience in management consulting, marketing, and executive development roles at companies including Franklin-Covey, Intel, and Accenture, Susan has been a first-hand witness to workplace disengagement and dissatisfaction that occur when mind and body are disconnected. As a remedy, Susan prescribes a healthy dose of self-awareness and trusting the wisdom of heart and gut in your career.
In a five-week period in 2001, a string of life-altering events — including divorce, relocation, two surgeries, a family crisis, and being laid off — woke Susan up to a desire to study her first love, psychology, a yearning she had hidden in her unsatisfying quest to follow the so-called “road to success.”
To fund her PhD studies in Somatic (Mind/Body) Psychology at the Santa Barbara Graduate Institute, Susan worked as a career advisor for UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, where she had earned her MBA a decade earlier. Because she had not been classically trained as a career counselor, Susan applied what she was learning in her studies at the time: body-based self-awareness techniques that helped her students experience calm, clarity, and confidence about their career decisions. Over the past decade, Susan has articulated how to align mind, body, and spirit around work decisions, helping professionals around the world to come alive and create their ideal work from within.
Susan’s innovative teaching approaches and compassionate counseling style have won the hearts and minds of career-minded participants in her popular speaking engagements and workshops in settings like the Stanford University’s Graduate Schools of Business and Engineering, the Green Festival, and the Esalen Institute.
