The Work from Within Philosophy
-
Instead of trying to figure out your next job, seeking to maximize your ROLE.
We’re often limited when we seek our next work by searching for labels, like saying, “I need to be a Marketing Manager” or “I should be an artist.” Instead of finding a job, seek to maximize your R.O.L.E., your “return on life energy. In other words, decrease your energy drains and increase your energy gains.

When you move, you change
If you’re feeling stuck, not only is your mind telling you something. Your body is, too. One of the best antidotes to stuckness is to move. Take a walk, dance, shake off. You’ll find a new perspective.
-
Feel it out before you figure it out
Often, we try so hard to figure things out that we give ourselves a headache. Hmm, probably not the best state of mind for making good decisions, eh? Instead of trying to “figure it out,” when you work from within, you start by feeling it out. As you navigate transitions, ecome aware of what makes you feel good — and what makes you feel bad. Tune into your heart and your gut, because they have wisdom.
-
Find and follow your own rhythm
It’s so easy for us to get caught up in the energies of others, to fall into the trap of doing things because others are doing them. But that keeps us from following our own unique path. If you want to follow your own road, it’s vital that you listen to and follow your own rhythm. It’s like falling in love with your own inner music and doing your own dance, moving at the pace, tempo, and beat that feels right to you.
-
Get “in touch” with what’s true for you
Instead of following a “should” path in life, follow a “want to” path of attending to your desires. That requires that you get “in touch” with what’s true for you. And what’s true to for you is more than an idea. When you’re doing activities and associating with people and being in places that are “true” for you, you feel it inside. Your body tells you. You’ll feel at ease, or at peace, or positively energized, or simply “in alignment.

If you want a sensational life, get in touch with your sensations
The way that you feel — in other words, the sensations you feel — matters. Perhaps your heart feels like it’s warm and light. Or your head feels tight, like it’s in a vise grip. Neither of those is good or bad. But we attach a lot of meanings to our sensations, trying to intepret them, rather than simply tuning into them and letting them tell us how we’re feeling and what we’re needing. Instead of popping an aspirin when you have a headache, what about listening to your head and asking, “What are you trying to tell me?” or “What are you needing right now?” Our sensations offer messages from our body, and they speak a different language than the brain. But they’re incredibly informative, if you’ll simply listen without pre-judgments. Your sensations can guide you with every decision you face, if you will be patient and attend to the “in-sights,” a chance to view what’s going on within you.
